GED(General Education Development Testing Program)의 약자로 미국의 고등학교 과정을 대신하는 자격시험입니다. GED의 시험과목은 총 5개이며 모두 객관식으로 이루어집니다. 시험시간은 총 6시간 25분정도이며 과목당 75분입니다. 합격기준은 5과목의 평균이 45점 이상이 되어야합니다. GED의 시험은 ETS에서 주관하여지며 시험의 기회는 자주 있는편입니다.
GED를 본후에 SAT 아니면 ACT, TOEFL은 필수입니다.
1. GED 시험 대상자 • 만 16세 이상 • 17 혹은 18세일 경우 현재 학교를 1년 이상 다니지 않는다든가, 다른 교육 시설에 다니고 있다든가 등등 현 상황에 적합한 서류를 작성해 내야합니다. • 고등학교 졸업장이 없어야 합니다. • 현재 일반적인 고등학교를 다니고 있지 않아야 합니다 • GED 자격증을 가지고 있지 않아야 합니다. 2. GED 시험 신청 방법 • 시험은 영어 외에도 프랑스어 혹은 스페인어로도 칠 수 있습니다. • 시험 신청 비용은 없습니다. 3. 시험 분야 • Reading • Writing • Social Studies • Mathematics • Science 4. 시험 성적 • 과목 별 최소 410점 이상을 받아야 합니다. • 총 점수가 2250점 이상을 받아야 시험을 통과할 수 있습니다. • 재 시험은 최소 410점을 넘지 못한 분야에서만 볼 수 있습니다. • 재 시험은 최소 60일이 지난 이후에 볼 수 있습니다. • 1년에 GED 시험은 최대 3번만 볼 수 있습니다. 5. 시험 시 도움이 필요하신 분 • 정신적이거나 육체적 사정으로 인하여 도움이 필요하신 분들은 질병과 관계된 의료기록을 제시하고 신청서를 작성하여 내면 그에 알맞은 도움이 주어질 것 입니다.
시험구성
GED 테스트의 경우 총 5개의 test분야로 나누어지고, Essay를 제외한 다른 분야의 문제는 객관식으로 출제되며 SAT(미국대학 입학시험)와 달리 틀린 답에 대한 감점은 없습니다. 또한, 모든 문제의 난이도는 기본적인 고등학교 수준의 지식을 바탕으로 출제되며, 고등학교 졸업생의 40% 수준의 난이도로 평가됩니다.
